- or - "How to make money disappear"

Installing the CD's was a snap (literally!).

The case came with rails that you attach to the drive, then just slide them into the bay until they "click".

It did take a couple of attempts to get the rails in the proper position so they were flush with the case.

Plastic rails don't rattle like metal ones do.
Installing the hard drives (dual Seagate 20GB ATA/100) was a breeze, since the hard drive bay easily comes out.

Note the fan holder in the hard drive bay itself (nice for additional cooling).

Easy installs make me happy!
After installing the drive bay, it was time to run the cables.

Nothing too exciting here, just attempting to keep it somewhat neat.

I still need to shrink-wrap the power lines
Lastly, installing the various cards into the system.

I only have need for 3 of them:
  • MSI Geforce4 MX440-T
  • Intel Pro 100 NIC
  • Creative Labs SB Live

  • messy, but workable
    And finally the performance.

Windows XP installed in just under 20 minutes (if you don't count the time I spent on the phone trying to get an activation key).

The system runs at about 28° at rest, and as high as 34° under load (benchmarking).

The screen shot to the right is after one such benchmark (it was cooling rapidly).

    frosty!

All in all, I'm quite pleased with the way it turned out.

The performance of this bad boy is outrageous! While I don't have the benchmark numbers at the moment, suffice it to say they're pretty high. I can tell you that running Tribes2 (Bones mod) at 1024x768 with all visuals cranked to high (weather, shields, shadows, etc) runs as smooth as silk.
