What the hell did you say yesterday?

Just a quick update to tide you along...

I've been going hardware crazy the last few days. Today, I ordered a lovely AMD XP 2000+ processor and a spiffy little Swiftech MCX462 heatsink with 80mm fan (can you say "airflow"?).

Combine that with my new iWill XP333 motherboard, half a gig of Crucial DDR2100 ram (which runs at 333mHz very nicely), and a MSI geforce 4 MX-440-T and you no longer have a computer... you have a tiny God.

I think it's time to organize another lan party!

All this hardware comes at a good time for me... my last final for the quarter is tonight, and then I get a week or so of "play time".

I've been kinda busy the last week or so. Between finals at school, the Data Validity test here at work, and setting up two webservers and supporting database servers, I've been pretty tapped out.

But dispair not, webizens, for I present you with two links for your browsing pleasure:

An image that made me laugh

More will follow, as soon as I get the new parts installed into my home PC (my old motherboard decided to give up the ghost, and I haven't had time to get the new and improved replacement installed yet).

Film at 11!

I know it's childish, but the next time you watch the Drew Carey show, sing along* with the theme song... wwbd style**!

All the little chicks
with the strap on dicks go
suck my cock!
suck my cock!

This works best if you live in an appartment with paper thin walls, and you sing at the top of your lungs. Sharing is good.

Can you tell I just got out of a meeting where I had to justify my existance? I'm a little jaded at the moment... I'll get over it.

*Special thanks to mrmoth for planting this little gem in my head.
**I have been ordered by my wife to never EVER do this again.

It's not that I don't love you...

The last couple of weeks have been very hectic. Between trying to get things going at work, my ongoing PC issues at home, and finals at college, I've had very little time for updating this pile of crap.

But my annual review went very well, I'm still a 4.0 student, and my computer remains the POS that it's been (flashing the bios released Pandora's box on my buttocks).

On a brighter side... the snow has melted (as opposed to the image below.. belive me... there was about a foot on the ground when I posted that!). I have my Advanced Motorcycle Safety Course on Saturday (hopefully I won't lay my bike down), and my wife is taking the basic class as well this weekend (so I'll be spending a small fortune on leathers, helmets, and a motorcycle soon).

Oh... and I've also been everyone's flash bitch for a few weeks. Everyone wants a flash intro for their website, but no one wants to A) Learn how to create flash, or B) Pay me to do it for them. So, I've been doing a lot of free work (for those whom I deem fit to do it for free, like the local chapter of the American Legion Youth Baseball).

What the hell...

Yesterday, I rode my motorcycle to work. Sure, it wasn't exactly tropical, but it was easily 50 degrees (and I don't mind that). They even started enrollment for the motorcycle safety class yesterday (I signed up for the advanced safety course in 2 weeks).

Today, everything changed...

This totally sucks!

My new toy showed up yesterday.

I found and ordered a MSI G4MX440-T for the amazing price of $119 at the beginning of the month. Due to the tremendous back order on this bad boy, it took nearly a month to get here.

This bad boy comes with a geforce4 processor, 64 meg of DDR ram, and dual output (one is SVGA, the other is SVIDEO for easy out to a VCR or TV).

Pure pixel lovin'.

I had some issues getting the drivers installed, but with that said and done, straight out of the box with no tweaks, she is a thing of beauty. Tribes 2 launches faster, looks better, and gives me higher frame rates than I've ever had before.

Damn... I've got a chubby.

Unreal Tournament though was somewhat of a disappointment. I guess it's that whole openGL vs Glide thing going on there. There is no fog in the game (though I'm sure I can tweak things to get it) and it doesn't look any better than my old 32 meg Voodoo 4 4500, but the frame rates are again much higher.

It came with 3 bundled games, No One Lives Forever, Aquanox, and Sacrifice (along with a bundle pack of 7 other "shareware" games).

Aquanox and Sacrifice both fell far below the "keeper" bar (and will be uninstalled tonight). Aquanox is like a really bad Forsaken (which is a really bad Descent , which is really good) that takes place underwater, and Sacrifice is similar to Asheron's Call (a genera that I despise).

No One Lives Forever, on the other hand, is quite good (a James Bond meets Soldier of Fortune type of game). It managed to keep me awake till 1:30 in the morning last night, and I found myself in search of patches and goodies for it today. Definitely a keeper!

I'll install a few more games and such before I give final judgement (Alien Vs. Predator 2 is one that gave me headaches with my Voodoo, so it's the final test), but all signs point to good.

I'm a happy monkey!

Well, the weekend's come and gone, and I've got no ambition once again.

I'm sitting here in my cube, getting crap dumped on me from all sides, so there will be no real update today. Perhaps tomorrow (if I can come up with anything good).

Perhaps...

Adendum:
It's been pointed out to me that I posted the wrong damn date earlier. My bad.

I've decided to neaten things up a bit.

I've created an archive of the various rants and such, as it seems like a waste to just throw away my previous musings (as I've been doing for the last 3 years).

There is a link on the left pointing to the archive, so you can catch up on what's been said, done, and drawn.

Other than that, no update today. Instead, I leave you with this image of our fearless leader, protector of the free world, and all around monkey boy:

eek-eek!
Hi, my name is Dubya and I like to climb on things.
Can I have a banana? Eek! Eek!
