What the hell did you say yesterday?

Once again, Spokane proves itself to be nothing more than a two mule, olive pit of a town.
With the anticipated opening of the first
Krispy Kreme
donut shop today, people worked themselves
up into a frenzy. We had people camping out in front of the store (which was still under
construction) since Saturday night... hoping to be the first customer.
When they opened this morning, the Highway Patrol was out in force, directing the hundreds of
cars that were attempting to fit in the parking lot (which holds about 25 vehicles). Pure
chaos.
I have just a few words to say to those people who camped out or rushed in on opening day
to be the first to taste the Krispy Cream experience: "It's a donut!!! Get a life!!!".
In other news... I haven't posted much recently, due to my current addition to the
CBF
over at PIAB.

I did another run last weekend, and this time I brought the digital
camera to document the suffering.
You can read all about it in:
Update on 06/11/02 - Dan sent me more images that he took and I've added them to the collection
(currently at 58 images). Enjoy!

I guess it's time for my "when ever the hell I have 2 minutes to spare" update.
I went on a bike run last weekend. It was the 1st annual "Motorcycle Safety Course
Alumni Ride"TM. While not the largest run I've
been on (45 motorcycles), it was an absolute blast with a few exceptions.
Exception 1: Death
When riding with a group, it's customary to stagger the formation of the bikes so that
you're at least 2 seconds behind the one in front of you, and at least 1 second behind
the one to your left or right (depending on what part of the lane you're in). There
was some guy with a skull and crossbones on the back of his helmet in front of me
(we dubbed him "Death") who couldn't seem to get a grasp of this concept. He was all
over the road... first riding in the left 1/3 of the lane, the the right 1/3.
This caused constant shifting by those behind him (I had to shift my lane position
to keep him out of my direct path, and everyone behind me had to shift to keep the
formation proper).
I'm not even going to go into Death's cornering ability (or lack there-of). He almost
dumped the bike on one corner (he got too close to the shoulder and ran into sand... then
hit his rear brake hard).
Exception 2: We got lost
My brother-in-law had to go tinkle at one of the stops, and while we were returning to
the group, we heard all the motorcycles start up and take off.
Crap!
We did have a map, but it's hard to read a map and ride at the same time, so we missed
a critical turn and ended up in the middle of frigging nowhere. After asking directions
a couple of times, we finally found our destination, and as it turned out, the group had
made a wrong turn at one point as well, so we beat them by about 40 minutes.
This Sunday, I'm going on the "Chicken Run", a slightly larger bike rally (around 1,400
motorcycles). Should be fun!

It's Tuesday (the aftermath of Monday).
I had a busy weekend, turning my yard into a war zone with the help of friend Ben
(and more importantly, with his Kubota). For those who don't know what a Kubota is,
I present to you Exibit A:
Ooh, my little pretty one, pretty one
When you gonna give me some time, Kubota?
Will you make my motor run, my motor run?
Gun it coming off of the line, Kubota.
Basically, I've turned my front yard into a giant mud pit while the back yard is
slowly shaping up, with ornamental weeping cherry trees, stone paths, and more flowers
than you can shake a stick at.
I'm sore, my hands are blistered, but my neighbors finally like me (or at least talk
to me for reasons other than to complain).

What a week (and it's only wednesday).
I already have my 40 hours in for the week at work due to a failure at a client's site on Sunday.
I love putting in those long days.
But on the brighter side, I did get to have some fun yesterday. My company took our group
to Nascart yesterday. For those who don't know what Nascart is, I will explain:
Imagine if you will an indoor track full of hair-pin curves, long straight sections, and
wicked corners. Now imagine go-carts with decent engines, capable of about 40 mph (64.37 kph).
Now imagine a bunch of full grown men in full competitive mode, and you get the picture.
Next time, I'm bringing the digital camera.
On another note, I picked up my tickets for Star Wars, Episode II - "Attack of the Clones" last
week for opening night. Should be fun.

I've been busy this morning setting up a forum for those wacky kids at piab.

Sorry about the lack of updates recently.
I've been busy as hell for the last couple of weeks, between work (Data Validity tests
and Project Management training) and home (new motorcycle... just ride!!), I just
haven't had the time to update this thing like I should.
my bad!
Last Sunday, my wife and I celebrated our 12th wedding anniversary. Who would have
guessed it would have lasted this long? Instead of buying each other a gift, we
decided to go in on a combo gift for the both of us, and purchased this:
There is something poetic about buying something called "The Prisoner" to celebrate marriage.
