*grumble*

March 14, 2003 By: bio Category: General

I’m filled with a certain amount of ire today.

It’s Friday, it’s payday. One would think I should find some sort of solace in those simple pleasures, but I’m consumed with negativity.

My son is firmly in the grasp of puberty, giving him access to only two emotions, rage and despair (which seem to be, at the drop of a hat, interchangeable). An explosion at the table last night destroyed the family dinner and ended badly. I don’t yell, I don’t degrade, but trying to talk sense apparently doesn’t seem to work any more. If you have advice, please share.

I had my car in for tinting a couple of days ago. My assumption is that when you pay to have something done, you expect it to be done properly. Instead, I got an excellent tint with a sub-standard install job. Bubbles in every window, horrible trim jobs, and they can’t seem to comprehend that you need to work the film over the rear defrosters to get a smooth finish. I’ve waited the 2 – 3 days they asked me to (to see if the bubbles will magically disappear), it’s time to lose my car for another day or two.

My bank has also frozen a credit card for reasons that they don’t seem to understand. I’ve called twice so far (I was attempting to make an online purchase and it keeps coming up as declined). I always make my payments on time, keep a balance, and keep it under the limit. They state that everything is good, but the refusal to accept the charge keeps happening (my bank can see it coming and sees that they’ve declined it, but can’t explain why that’s happening). They promise to fix it.

The weather sucks ass.

Work is making me nuts.

Blah, blah, blah.

Thank God for beer.

Sometimes when I make a big internet purchase my credit card company calls me to verify that I am really the one making the purchase. The account is frozen until I call them back. Could that be happening to you? It’s the credit card security people who call, not the normal people. I have also read that some credit card companies are going to not allow certain types of online transactions like gambling or kiddie porn, could be the company that’s running the credit card is one that’s being blacklisted?

  2. They apparently got it fixed, as my purchase went through about an hour after I posted. The website is http://newegg.com (highly respected and very reliable) so I don’t think that was the issue.

Anyway… life is better today 🙂

  3. Dude, as far as the kid goes, like it or not it may be time to go somewhat hardcore on him. If he wants to act like a baby then start taking things away from him. Computer, TV, phone, etc. I know it sucks (having had to do that in some fashion to my own), but sometimes it needs to be done. Stokes has even gone so far as cancelling his kid’s B-Day party. Don’t know if it will help or not, just a suggestion. But it sounds like he needs a healthy dose of respect for you and what you provide him. Show him what it’s like not to have it and see what that does. Anyway, that’s my 2 cents worth. Later.

  4. I’ve done all of that.

His birthday party at laser quest has been nixed, he’s grounded, etc. He still doesn’t get it.
