Wheeeee!

Just a quick note…

I’m on my way to the hospital.

There probobly won’t be any updates for a while… of course, if there’re aren’t any ever, well… I died.

T-minus one day

I did the pre-screening process for my surgery yesterday.

Unfortunately, they neglected to tell me to quit taking one of my medications, naproxin, a week ago. One side effect of that drug is that it thins the blood (causing you to bleed more freely when cut). This can be undesirable during surgery.

They did a bleed test on me (they scooped a small chunk of flesh out of my arm and timed how long it took to quit bleeding). It’s supposed to finish between 2.5 and 8 minutes. My test took just over 17 minutes. If that doesn’t come down by tomorrow, they’ll have to reschedule me for next week (where they test again). That will screw me, both financially and professionally (as I have to get back to work to prepare a server for a beta that begins on 6/2/03).

*sigh*

In other news… I’m going to miss opening night of “The Matrix – Reloaded”. I can’t begin to tell you how much that pisses me off. I am a geek after all!

Weddings, frustration, and surgical preparedness

My little sister got married this weekend.

It was a lovely ceremony, held at the courthouse by a Justice of the Peace. We, of course, did the full wedding dress up game, Tuxedos, gowns, flowers, etc.

From the left (foreground): The Author, David, Jenifer, and the Judge.

There was another couple waiting their turn, and I suggested to the judge that perhaps they should go first, as the seemed to be in a much bigger hurry (the bride had to be within minutes of going into labor).

The party was up at Pepperdine’s on the South Hill here in Spokane (no website… I know the owner and am working on that). We had a blast!

Sunday, I spent the whole damn day working on my dad’s computer. Getting some of the applications to work was a bitch (he had purchased Norton SystemWorks which won’t let you install individual components… and most of what it installs is crap that will kill your machine over time). It’s all finished now (all except the installation of AOL… I just can’t bring myself to do it even though he’s a huge fan of the shit).

*sigh*

I have an appointment with the Pre-Surgical Screening Unit at the hospital today at 11. They need to do some tests and such to insure they don’t kill me during the surgery (which is Wednesday at 10 am).

Oh my, my… oh hail yes!

WOW!!

The temperature just dropped 10 degrees and it hailed… like all hell! After 15 minutes of the deluge, we have about half an inch on the ground.

These pics are about 5 minutes old:

High speed shutter, you can see them suspended in the air

To the east... coming down hard!

The back yard is pretty!
