Like little parasites, my children suck my wallet dry

October 23, 2003 By: bio Category: General

Last night I was cornered.

My son plays the clarinet. Last year the school had loaned him a bass clarinet and he loved it. This year, they didn’t have one to loan him, so they gave him an Obo. He hates it.

Rather than see him give up on band, I went to the music store last night and shelled out $1,100 for a used bass clarinet for him. It’s a Yamaha, in near mint condition (no dings or scratches) with a real wood cladding (no cheap plastic here!). The kid is pretty happy.

In other news, I’m farily steamed about Jeb Bush’s decision to ignore the wishes of Terry Schiavo and her husband (though I’m not suprised… he is a Bush, after all). Apparently being in a coma with no real brain activity and a degridation of brain matter for over a decade isn’t enough to pull someone off life support (even though she requested that she never be put on life support if something were to happen to her). I understand her parents fighting for her; they want to keep their daughter alive… but she’s not their daughter any more. She’s just a body now.

My wife and I are going to get living wills drawn up to insure this kind of crap never happens to me. If I’m braindead, harvest my organs and end it. I’ll be gone, but at least I can leave something behind that benifits others.

Finally…. I’m off to see the doctor tomorrow for my own medical needs. I’m hoping he changes my pain meds out for something that acutally reduces the pain. My current medication has lost effectiveness as my body’s become acustom to it (and I don’t want to increase the dossage… that will just make me drool all over myself). Great times!

You know that you want your sons to be happy or otherwise your mother in law would be down on you. You are a good son in law and I hope your new pain pills are helping.

Why not take a picture of your new table and chairs and either post it on your site or email me a picture so I can see what it looks like.
